PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman said that the arrangement of the Gasibu area aims to increase the comfort and safety of the public in using this public space.

The arrangement is necessary considering that Gasibu is a public space that is widely used by the people of West Java for sports and activities.

"The running track needs to be repaired because it's a public facility, a public space," said Regional Secretary Herman when met at the West Java DPRD Building, Tuesday (1/9/2026).

According to him, improving facilities is part of the government's responsibility to ensure the public can use Gasibu comfortably. Poor track conditions have the potential to lead to unexpected incidents.

"Don't let the track be bad, as the Sundanese say, and you could end up with a sprain. We don't want anything unexpected to happen," he said.

In addition to safety and comfort, Gasibu's development will also consider the area's aesthetics. Adjustments will be made by considering the existing landscape, both natural and man-made.

He believes the condition of Gasibu after the redevelopment will be better than before. Therefore, he asked the public to give the government the opportunity to complete the redevelopment process.

"God willing, conditions will be much better than before. Therefore, we urge the public to give us a chance to resolve this," he added.

He also opened up space for the public to provide criticism and suggestions if deficiencies were found during or after the arrangement.

Regarding the possibility of new infrastructure development, the Regional Secretary stated that Gasibu's development is not focused on building significant new facilities. The government is focusing more on improving and improving existing facilities.

Meanwhile, regarding the estimated construction time until early 2027, the Regional Secretary explained that the Gasibu development process will require time in accordance with the applicable stages and regulations.

"Yes, because it takes that kind of time. The regulations clearly state that there's a timeframe," he said.

Through this arrangement, the West Java Provincial Government hopes that Gasibu can once again become a public space that is increasingly comfortable, safe, and representative for the public to exercise and carry out activities.
