PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman together with heads of health services from 27 districts and cities are committed to reducing the prevalence of stunting through progressive and measurable steps.

This was stated by Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman after the 2024 Coordination Meeting of Provincial, Regency and City Health Services in the West Java Region at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Friday (21/6/2024).

"We had a consolidation meeting with 27 districts and cities which was attended by heads of health services and the Head of the West Java Health Service. Everyone was committed to realizing new zero stunting, no new stunting," said Herman.

Herman explained that currently the prevalence of stunting in West Java has reached 27.7 percent. Therefore, he hopes that today's meeting can reduce the prevalence of stunting to 14 percent by the end of 2024.

"Today, the prevalence of stunting in West Java is 27.7 percent. With this commitment and supported by action plans for execution in all districts, sub-districts, villages and even posyandu, as well as stunting aware homes. God willing, it is hoped that stunting in West Java will decrease to 14 percent ," he added.

To make this happen, Herman encouraged all stakeholders together with the staff at Posyandu to work together to deal with stunting on a massive scale.

"We reward all pregnant women by getting free blood supplement tablets and providing free examination fees. Also ensure that pregnant women consume 100 percent animal protein, at least two eggs a day," he said.

"Pregnant women must be 100 percent guaranteed to provide exclusive breast milk for six months. All children aged 7-24 months receive continued breast milk and animal protein. Later we will see the action. With collaboration and synergy, God willing, in six months this will definitely change," concluded Herman.
