PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regional Secretary of West Java Province Herman Suryatman attended the National Seminar and National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Regional Government-Owned People's Economic Banks (Perbamida) at the El Royale Hotel, Bandung City, Thursday (19/12/2024).

In his speech, Herman said that the Regional People's Economic Bank (BPR) currently needs to provide the best goods and services to the community.

"In this case, providing credit facilities to the community must be guaranteed that the services provided are competitive," said Herman.

Not only services need to be improved, but also the credit mechanism so that it is not inferior to online loans (pinjol).

"Not only the service, but also the mechanism because the advantage of bank emok (pinjol) is that the community has not asked, bank emok has already spoken (given credit)," said Herman.

According to him, BPR Daerah has better services than pinjol, but in terms of service it is not fast enough and in the end many people abandon it.

"That's what makes emok banks (pinjol) rampant because of their fast service, even though their services are suffocating," he said.

"I think this needs to be discussed with the Ministry of Home Affairs and OJK, so that we don't lose out to banks emok (pinjol)," said Herman.

Giving dividends

In addition, Herman said, BPR Daerah needs to provide dividends to local governments because BPR is a business institution.

"BPR Daerah is a business institution, not a social service, provide dividends to the regional government. The regional government will provide attention when you cannot prove your achievements, one of which is dividends," Herman continued.

He also added that BPR Daerah is a state-owned company and belongs to the people so that currently the people are waiting for the best performance from BPR Daerah.

"This is a state-owned company, owned by the people and the people are waiting for its role. Don't forget, BUMD must quickly make changes," he stressed.

"That's why this is a good momentum. We gather here, go home from here and immediately make changes in all areas," said Herman.
