PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The spirit of the Asia Africa Conference (AAC) was echoed again in the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the AAC which took place in Bandung City.

On this occasion, the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, welcomed 17 Ambassadors of African Union Countries at the Savoy Homan Hotel, Bandung City, Tuesday (23/4/2025).

Herman emphasized the importance of reviving the spirit of Bandung or Bandung Spirit which once united Asian and African countries in the spirit of solidarity, independence and freedom.

"Bandung was once the capital of Asia Africa. Today we remember and hope that the spirit will continue to live in the future. This Bandung Spirit is an important motivation for the nations of Asia Africa to continue to be independent and free, of course in the current context, especially in the fields of economy, social, culture, and others," said Herman after the event.

Furthermore, Herman hopes that this spirit can be a driving force for the City of Bandung to continue to improve for the welfare of the community and increase the city's attractiveness as a leading tourist destination.

"We want foreign and domestic tourists to flock back to Bandung, as Bandung used to be known as Paris van Java. We must be able to feel that again now," he said.

According to him, to realize this, the City of Bandung still has a number of homework assignments such as waste management, transportation, and various other aspects of city governance that need to be optimized.

"Bandung Spirit must inspire West Java, inspire Indonesia, and more broadly the nations of Asia and Africa," concluded Herman.
