PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG REGENCY - The Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, inspected the Transit Apartment owned by the West Java Provincial Government in the Rancaekek and Solokanjeruk areas, Bandung Regency, Wednesday (11/20/2024).

The review was conducted to see the progress of the construction of the new tower unit, which is planned for the Urban Social Welfare Service Needs (PPKS) handling program through simple rental flats (rusunawa) and economic empowerment facilities.

"We are currently finalizing the data of prospective participants in the Urban PPKS handling program, while also preparing the rusunawa," said Herman Suryatman.

He explained that it was planned that one of the towers in the Rancaekek and Solokanjeruk Rusunawa would be used as a temporary residence for selected PPKS candidates, namely those in the extreme poor category.

"We facilitate them here, they (extreme poor families) stay for 6 to 12 months. The government will help with the rent and they will also be trained accordingly, accompanied according to their interests and talents," said Herman.

"There are two towers and currently finishing touches are being done. God willing, it will be completed in December and will be handed over from the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas to the West Java Provincial Government," he said.

Herman said that the program is a collaborative plan between multi- stakeholders , central and regional governments to ensure that extremely poor people in urban areas can improve their quality of life.

"This is a trial, hopefully it will run smoothly, we will start with 100 heads of families. We will place them in these two flats, 50 families in Solokanjeruk and 50 families in Rancaekek," he explained.

Herman hopes that with the construction of the new tower and the planned program, people in need of social welfare services can move out of the zone of extreme poverty families to become well-off families.

"Hopefully, later we will provide guidance to the extremely poor people who need social welfare services in urban areas, who do not have jobs and selected houses, approximately 100 families, in these two flats," said Herman.

"Hopefully we can move up a class, get out of the extreme poverty zone and become a well-off family," he added.
