PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - The Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, revealed three main keys to realizing the vision of Special West Java in the implementation of governance and development in West Java.

This statement was delivered when he was a resource person in the BULD DPD RI Public Dialogue, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Government Management, IPDN Jatinangor Campus, on Friday ( 7/3/2024 ) afternoon.

Herman explained that the concept of West Java Special Region reflects the commitment of the West Java Provincial Government to prioritize the community, both through excellent public services and through the implementation of development that is oriented towards welfare.

To accelerate the achievement of this vision, Herman said there are three main keys that must be the main focus, namely values , systems, and leadership.

Values: Prioritizing Local Wisdom Values

Herman said that the main value upheld in the development of West Java is gemah ripah repeh rapih . This term reflects the hope for a society that is fertile, prosperous, peaceful, and lives in harmony.

" Gemah ripah means a prosperous society, with sufficient clothing and food. While repeh rapih means a harmonious, safe and peaceful society," said Herman.

He emphasized that these local values must be used as the main spirit in every policy and implementation of development, both at the provincial, district/city, sub-district, and village/sub-district levels.

"These values will help us in returning various problems to the cultural roots and local wisdom of each region," he said.

System: Integration of Development from Center to Village

The second key highlighted is the importance of an integrated system. According to Herman, successful development must be the result of aggregation from various levels of government, starting from the center, province, district/city, sub-district, to village.

"There will be no great province without great districts/cities. Likewise, there will be no great districts/cities without great sub-districts, and there will be no advanced sub-districts without great villages," he said.

Therefore, designing a harmonious system and formulating structured policies are strategic steps so that development goals can be achieved optimally.

Leadership : Strong and Data-Oriented Leadership

The third vital key is leadership. Herman explained that the core of leadership is decision making and courage in facing various risks.

A leader, according to him, must adhere to the grand design of development that has been designed and dare to make decisions based on valid and accurate data.

" Good data, good decision, good result" . Good decisions must be based on valid data to produce optimal impact," he said.

In addition, he added that strong leadership must operate in accordance with the rule of law, but still have the flexibility to move quickly and even be able to exceed expectations.

"Strong leadership plays a big role in the success of development. It must be logical, in accordance with regulations, but also able to move quickly and exceed expectations," he said.

By prioritizing values , integrated systems, and strong leadership, West Java is optimistic that it can realize the vision of Special West Java for a more prosperous and happier society.

" Values , systems, leadership , that's the key," concluded Herman Suryatman.
