PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Java is encouraging all micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to boldly develop their businesses and move up a level. He believes that the success of MSMEs is determined not only by capital and business strategy, but also by the mindset of the entrepreneurs.

This was conveyed by the West Java Regional Secretary during the Halal Certification Assistance for 1,000 Micro and Small MSMEs and the Executive Seminar entitled "I, YOU, WE, Moving Together to Build Indonesian MSME Businesses" at the Blessing Room Convention Center D'Botanica Hotel, Bandung City, Wednesday (2/9/2026).

In his remarks, the Regional Secretary emphasized that there should be no excuse for MSMEs to stop growing. He urged entrepreneurs to first build self-confidence before taking any business steps.

"There's no reason why everyone present here needs to upgrade their MSMEs, and that starts with the mindset. It's that simple," said the Regional Secretary.

He believes fear is one of the main obstacles preventing MSMEs from growing. He believes that fears of unsold products, losses, and even rejection often arise before entrepreneurs even try.

"The problem is, we're all already afraid before we even start. Afraid of not selling, afraid of making a loss, afraid of being rejected. That's what's making it difficult for you to move up a class—your own thoughts," he said.

To that end, he encouraged MSMEs to continue developing a positive mindset and a clear vision for running their businesses. He believes that vision is crucial for determining the direction and success of a business.

He also likened the importance of consistency to the Sundanese proverb " cikaracak ninggang batu, laun-laun jadi legok ", which means that something that is done continuously will eventually result in change.

"Even though the rock is hard and the water is only a drop, if it continues to flow, it will become a logok. Mun keyeng tangtu pareng , as the ancestors said," he said.

The Regional Secretary added that MSMEs must not give up easily when facing difficulties. He believes that business success requires a process, the courage to try again, and consistent repetition.

He quoted Socrates' thought that excellence does not come solely from ability, but from constant repetition.

"There's no such thing as superiority; there's only repetition. Repetition, repeated over and over again," he said.

On that occasion, the Regional Secretary also reminded MSMEs to build a supportive social environment for business growth. He encouraged them to provide positive encouragement to one another, rather than instilling fear and doubt.

The halal certification assistance program for 1,000 micro and small MSMEs was initiated by the Red and White Chinese Communication Forum (FOKTI) in collaboration and synergy with the government and other stakeholders. This initiative is part of an effort to encourage businesses to increase their capacity and competitiveness.
