PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government provides full support to the Bandung City contingent that will compete in the 15th West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in 2026.
All athletes are asked to compete with full confidence, uphold sportsmanship, and strive to achieve the best results for the City of Bandung.
Bandung City Regional Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain, who also acts as Chief of Mission of the Bandung City Contingent, delivered the message when sending off the contingent to the 2026 West Java Porprov.
Iskandar said that the Bandung City contingent numbered 2,187 people, consisting of 1,366 athletes, 307 coaches, 161 mechanics, 86 managers, and 267 match officials.
According to him, this number shows the great strength of Bandung City in facing provincial-level sporting events.
However, the strength of the contingent is not only determined by the number of athletes, but also by their quality, cohesiveness, discipline, and determination to deliver the best results.
"Compete with full confidence, show your best abilities, don't give up easily, respect your opponent, obey the coach's directions and stay focused until the match is truly over," said Iskandar.
He reminded the athletes not only to participate in the 2026 West Java Porprov, but also to have a champion mentality and dare to set high targets.
"Don't just think about competing, compete to win. Don't just chase participation, but strive for achievement. Never underestimate your own abilities," he said.
Iskandar emphasized that every athlete selected to be part of the contingent has the ability, discipline, and determination to be the best.
"Our target is clear: to win as many gold medals as possible. We'll fight with all our might to realize Bandung's dream of becoming champions," he stressed.
However, Iskandar urged that the ambition to win be accompanied by sportsmanship. All athletes were asked to respect the referees, judges, and opponents, and to avoid being easily provoked during the match.
He also reminded all contingent members to maintain the good name of the City of Bandung by avoiding actions that could harm themselves or the contingent.
"We may play different sports and compete in different tournaments, but we share a common identity: the Bandung City Contingent. Therefore, let's maintain our unity and togetherness," he said.
