PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government through the West Java Food Security and Livestock Service (DKPP) ensures that food supplies are safe during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
Head of the Food Availability and Distribution Division of the West Java DKPP, Nenny Fasyaini, said that the 12 strategic food commodities currently have a surplus to meet the needs of the community.
"We are a tourist area, automatically besides our regular needs for food, people who come to West Java for tourism also need food. We know that West Java is famous for its culinary," said Nenny some time ago.
According to Nenny, to meet the need for food commodity supplies, West Java and other provinces work together to supply each other's food needs.
"We supply from surplus areas to deficit areas so that the community's food needs are all met, including the regional government's food reserves are also safe," he said.
Regarding prices, Nenny admitted that currently there is an increase in a number of basic necessities of the community although not too significant. At the same time, there are also commodities that have experienced a price decrease, such as beef.
"We must maintain prices for producers and consumers, Christmas and New Year must be controlled, the important thing is not to exceed the HET that has been set. The ones that have gone up are shallots, red chilies, red cayenne peppers, and eggs. The price of beef has actually gone down," he said.
Nenny also stated that her party also held a Cheap Food Movement in 27 cities and districts as an effort to control inflation and facilitate access to quality food for the community.
"Cheap Food Movement, to get closer to the community. The community can get quality and cheap food," said Nenny.
