PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government, together with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), officially launched the 2026 Economic Census (SE 2026) in Bekasi Regency.

The launch was attended by the Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, together with the Head of the Bekasi Regency BPS, Krido Saptono, at the Regent's Office, Bekasi Regency Government Complex, Central Cikarang, on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

The 2026 Economic Census fieldwork aims to collect comprehensive economic data on the community. Data collection will continue until the end of August 2026, with census officers visiting businesses door-to-door.

Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, said that the economic census is a national agenda that has a strategic role in supporting planning and as a basis for formulating development policies in Bekasi Regency.

Asep assured the public that the data provided to census officials need not be concerned, as all collected information is guaranteed to be confidential, in accordance with statutory regulations, and is not tax-related.

"There's no need to be afraid, because the confidentiality of the data citizens provide is fully guaranteed by law and is not related to taxes. The data is invaluable for advancing regional prosperity and the economy," he stressed.

As a form of support for the implementation of the census, the Acting Regent of Bekasi himself has become a respondent for data collection in the 2026 economic census which was carried out directly by census officers on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

"I've been included in the 2026 Economic Census, now it's your turn. I invite all elements of the Bekasi Regency community to welcome the census officers with open arms. Please provide truthful and honest information," said the Acting Regent of Bekasi.

He also called for active participation from all Bekasi Regency residents to ensure the success of the 2026 SE. He stated that the success of the census depends heavily on public participation, particularly from business owners, in providing correct and accurate data to census officials.

The Head of the Bekasi Regency Statistics Agency (BPS), Krido Saptono, explained that the 2026 Economic Census is an economic data collection activity conducted simultaneously throughout Indonesia every 10 years. The census aims to capture a comprehensive picture of the condition and structure of the national and regional economies.

"The real purpose of the 2026 Circular Letter is to map the economic potential of each region. Beyond mapping, this will also serve as a basis for formulating government policies for the development of both large businesses and MSMEs. The data collection covers various business sectors, from trade and services to hospitality, and we'll cover everything," he explained.

Krido stated that the SE 2026 field visits had begun on June 15 and would last until August 31, 2026. During this period, census officers would conduct in-person visits to homes to collect data on families and businesses.

"We hope our officers will be accepted in the field to carry out their duties during the 2026 Economic Census. This way, we hope the census can run smoothly until August," he said.
