The event was the culmination of the Digital Talent Scholarship-Talent Scouting Academy event series which started with a game jam session, mentor training, and game polishing. In the showcase, 10 teams were selected to have the opportunity to showcase their work to the public. This event is a form of government support for creative industry players in the application and game sub-sector.
"Let's push because Indonesian game players are extraordinary. There are so many opportunities about this game. If we look at it, the game is included in the creative economy sector which contributes up to Rp31.2 trillion. This is an opportunity that we must take," said the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information, Hari Budiarto.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tourism Industry Division of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), Rispiaga, stated that the activity was in line with the West Java Disparbud program to continue developing the creative economy.
"Of the 14 other sub-sectors in the creative economy development sector, games are one of them. This is in line with the Disparbud creative economy program," he said.
Rispiaga hopes that the GameFest Talent Scouting Academy (TSA) Showcase activity can develop local games while enriching the national game ecosystem.
"The main thing we hope is that they can be consistent and continue to develop the game industry that is included in the creative economy. Then in the end it can enrich and strengthen the national game ecosystem," he said.
Agate Academy CEO Restya Astari said that the new format of the local game industry scholarship aims to provide more experience to game industry players, especially local games.
"This is a new format to support the development of the game industry. Usually we only do training and then incubation, but now there is a showcase so that participants can get direct feedback," said Restya.
