PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The management of the Superior Human School (Maung) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with business players in West Java to integrate education and industry. The MoU is expected to align learning at the school with the needs of the workplace.

The Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, stated that the MoU was attended by 13 vocational high schools (SMK) and 26 representatives of business actors, including PT Solu Filantropi Teknologi, PT Usaha Adi Sanggoro, Hotel Novotel Bogor and PT Sepa Coklat Indonesia.

According to Purwanto, there are 1,123 potential industries in West Java that can support improving the quality of vocational school graduates. There are 13 Maung Vocational Schools in West Java, each with 99 skill concentrations.

"Industry can be a living lab for children, enabling them to develop skills that meet industry needs," Purwanto said at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) on Monday (July 13, 2026).

In his remarks, West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman stated that this MoU is one way to address a significant amount of outstanding work, particularly regarding employment. Therefore, synergy and collaboration must be further strengthened.

In the next five years, Herman continued, Indonesia will experience a demographic dividend. Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government is preparing children for work and entrepreneurship.

"In 2045, our children will become future leaders, the leaders of the future, not the other way around being a burden on the future," said Herman.

If the demographic bonus is not handled well, Herman is worried that Indonesia will fall into a middle-class trap.
