PORTALJABAR, CIMAHI CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi conducted a surprise inspection (Sidak) of the Cimahi underpass construction on Jl. Gatot Subroto, where it crosses the Cimahi railway line, Monday (12/10/2026).

During his inspection, KDM, the familiar nickname for the Governor of West Java, directly engaged in dialogue with the construction workers and inquired about their wages. Some of them seemed hesitant to disclose their wages, but KDM requested that they do so.

"Wages cannot be reduced; they must be in accordance with the employment contract. If it's Rp. 140,000, then it's Rp. 140,000. No less," he stressed.

The surprise visit revealed the wages of workers, from foremen to assistants. Foremen are supposed to be paid Rp 130,000 per day, laborers Rp 140,000, and assistants Rp 120,000 per day. Meanwhile, the steel welding division faces a different wage, with an average daily wage of Rp 150,000.

Facts revealed on the ground show that their wages have been reduced by an average of between Rp 10,000 and Rp 20,000 per person per day. This was obtained by KDM based on direct dialogue with workers.

Apart from asking about wages, KDM also ensures that workers are insured.

"This must be covered by employment insurance, it must not be otherwise," he stressed to the project head from the West Java Provincial Government," KDM emphasized.

Previously, there had been a dialogue with the workers, who claimed they were uninsured. However, after questioning the project manager, they learned that the workers had been asked to submit their identity cards (KTP) upon starting work for employment insurance purposes.

During the field inspection, KDM was accompanied by the Mayor of Cimahi, Ngatiyana, and several officials from the Cimahi Military District Command.

To Ngatiyana, KDM offered an additional budget of IDR 12 billion for the Gatot Subroto underpass project from the Cimahi City Regional Budget.

"Mangga tah Pak Wali, bilih bade nambihan, 12 miliar," said KDM.

Ngatiyana then stated that he would first coordinate with the West Java Provincial Government regarding the budget for the Gatot Subroto underpass. For the construction of the Gatot Subroto Underpass in Cimahi City, the West Java Provincial Government allocated Rp126 billion from the 2026 West Java Regional Budget.
