PORTALJABAR, DEPOK CITY - The West Java Provincial Government through the Tourism and Culture Office together with Bank Indonesia is overseeing the site visit activities of the Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI) 2026. This momentum is an assessment event for Muslim-friendly tourism conducted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, CrescentRating, and the Enhaii Halal Tourism Center (EHTC) Team from the NHI Bandung Tourism Polytechnic.
The activity was held in several locations, from August 12 to 14, 2026. West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan, who attended the opening session at the At-Thohir Mosque in Depok, said that West Java has great potential related to Muslim-friendly tourism, so this opportunity must be optimized to repeat last year's success, namely achieving the best predicate in IMTI 2025.
"By God's grace, along with the hard work and collaboration of all parties, West Java has achieved first place nationally in the 2025 IMTI. This achievement is not just a trophy, but a significant mandate for us to continue maintaining and improving the quality of Muslim-friendly tourism," said the Deputy Governor of West Java.
"Through this site visit, the assessment isn't just about ranking, but also about our continued efforts to improve for better service. We hope our efforts will benefit the advancement of Muslim-friendly tourism in West Java and Indonesia," he added.
Also present on this occasion was Deputy Mayor of Depok, Chandra Rahmansyah. He stated that the City of Depok is ready to fully support the development of Muslim-friendly tourism, hoping this will have a positive impact on the local economy.
"Muslim-friendly tourism is certainly much needed by the community, and it also impacts the growth and development of MSMEs in Depok City. We are ready to provide optimal support," he stressed.
In addition to the At-Thohir Mosque, the assessment team also visited the Bumi Aki Restaurant and the Nurul Wathon Mosque in Bogor Regency on the first day, as well as the Whoosh Station (High-Speed Train) and the Villaggio Outlet in Karawang Regency. Several factors were assessed, including accessibility, the environment, and Muslim-friendly services.
