PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Education Office (Disdik) of Region XI of West Java Province held a socialization of the Human-Based Education System (SPBM) or "Superior Human School" (Maung School) at the GOR of SMA Negeri 1 Garut, last Wednesday (20/5/2026).

Regarding this activity, the Principal of SMAN 1 Garut, Sri Mulyani, revealed that the appointment of SMAN 1 Garut as a Maung School was not just a wish, but a form of recognition for its long-standing track record of consistent achievements.

"In my opinion, SMAN 1 is worthy of being appointed as or being appointed as Maung Jawa Barat State High School because of what, if we flashback from the past that SMA 1 was one of the high schools in Garut Regency that was favored by the people of Garut, why? Because of its achievements, the achievements of SMA Negeri 1 Garut were shown not only by the school but also the extraordinary achievements of its students from the past until now," he said when met at SMAN 1 Garut, Jalan Merdeka, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency, Monday (25/5/2026).

He detailed a number of proud achievements, including being recognized as a National Healthy School, an Independent Adiwiyata School, an ISO-based school, and an award for excellent service at the national level. Academically, SMAN 1 Garut also achieved impressive success, with student graduation rates reaching prestigious state universities (PTN) such as ITB, UNPAD, UPI, and Polban.

"Of course, I hope that, on behalf of all the residents of SMAN 1 Garut, SMAN 1 Garut will return to its former glory. SMAN 1 Garut is the best school, a favorite school, a school that is considered superior, not only for what our high school has achieved, but also for our students to excel in the future, seen from their non-academic achievements," he said.

Regarding the readiness of the Maung School program, Sri Mulyani emphasized that the entire SMAN 1 Garut ecosystem has been thoroughly prepared. Strategic steps taken include establishing an internal team, improving teacher competency, conducting various workshops and technical guidance (bimtek) for teachers, and conducting extensive outreach.

With high spirits, SMAN 1 Garut is optimistic that it can become a key pillar in developing a superior generation through the Maung School program, which is expected to set a new standard for educational quality in West Java. (Garut Communications and Information Service/rka)
