PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, encouraged SMAN 22 Bandung City to become an example or role model for other schools in building a culture of orderly and safe driving among students.

This was conveyed while attending the Launching of the Honda Safety Generation 2026 Roadshow which was held at the school.

On that occasion, Farhan assessed that providing safety riding education directly to students was a strategic step in instilling safety awareness from an early age.

"I really hope that the students of SMA 22 can be role models for all students in Bandung City to become good and safe motorcyclists on the road," he said Thursday (2/4/2026).

Farhan appreciates educational activities that provide hands-on practice in the school environment.

According to him, this approach is effective because it is able to reach students, most of whom are starting to use motorbikes for the first time.

He believes that learning should not only be limited to theory, but should also touch on practical aspects, starting from the use of safety equipment to correct driving techniques.

"This kind of education is important because it's provided without barriers. Children can immediately understand how to drive safely and according to the rules," he said.

In his direction, Farhan also reminded the importance of compliance with administrative regulations such as driving license ownership and vehicle completeness.

He even proposed that mobile SIM services be available directly at schools to make things easier for students.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of controlling emotions while driving, which is often a triggering factor for accidents on the highway.

"The most important thing isn't speed, but safety. And that starts with our ability to control our emotions on the road," he stressed.

Furthermore, Farhan encouraged that similar programs be expanded to other schools in Bandung City by involving various parties, including the automotive industry and media.

He called the collaboration with PT Daya Adi Cipta Motor a positive step that needs to be further developed.

"I encourage other schools to replicate this initiative. SMAN 22 can be a model for how to effectively implement road safety education," he said.

With this activity, the Bandung City Government hopes to produce a young generation who is not only skilled at driving, but also has a high awareness of traffic safety and order.

SMAN 22 Bandung is also expected to be a pioneer in developing a culture of safe, orderly, and responsible driving among students, while also inspiring other schools in Bandung. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
