PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - 12th-grade students majoring in Modern Music Arts at SMKN 10 Bandung underwent a Skills Competency Test (UKK) with a different concept. The students performed live in a café gig format, rather than in a classroom or school stage.
This activity took place at Rooftop Coffee Ujung Berung, Bandung City, for three days, from April 21–23, 2026.
Students were divided into groups like a band and challenged to perform 24 songs live for three hours.
These gigs provide an opportunity for students to showcase their musical abilities in front of the public, while also providing an atmosphere that resembles the real world of work in the creative industry.
The principal of SMKN 10 Bandung, Rika Wahyuni, stated that this activity was part of the students' final exam series. "This is a series of exams for grade XII and is the final activity," she said.
He added that the implementation of UKK outside of school aims to accustom students to appearing in public spaces.
"The hope is that after graduating, they will be ready to enter the field and industry because they are used to performing outside, such as in cafes or other events," he said.
With this concept, he continued, students are not only tested on the technical side, but also on their mental readiness and professionalism when performing.
"This experience is expected to provide graduates with valuable resources for employment, further education, and entrepreneurship in the music and creative industries," he concluded.
