PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi, Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja, expressed his appreciation for the presence of President University Hospital, which held a soft opening in the Jababeka Cikarang area on Saturday (10/10/2026).

The presence of this hospital can strengthen health services in Bekasi Regency, especially for the treatment of cancer and heart disease.

Asep said, with the presence of President University Hospital, the number of hospitals in Bekasi Regency increased from 55 to 56 hospitals.

"Thank God, today Bekasi Regency added another hospital, bringing the total number of hospitals to 56. Hopefully, the presence of President University Hospital will provide significant benefits to the community," he said.

According to him, the community desperately needs hospitals with specialist services and adequate medical facilities. Many people still choose to seek medical treatment abroad, such as in Malaysia and Singapore.

Asep said that President University Hospital could become one of the main choices for the people of Bekasi Regency, especially for patients who need treatment for serious illnesses.

"If this hospital is of good quality, people won't need to travel abroad for treatment. This is especially true if, in the future, the focus is on treating cancer and heart disease, two conditions that require precise management," he said.

He also welcomed the planned development of a Cardiac Center at President University Hospital. He stated that this service has the potential to become a referral facility for patients with heart conditions requiring further treatment.

In addition to improving facilities, Asep emphasized the importance of affordable access to healthcare services for the community. He hoped the hospital would communicate and collaborate with local governments and relevant agencies, including regarding services for BPJS Kesehatan participants.

"In the future, this hospital can collaborate with BPJS Kesehatan, so that the people of Bekasi Regency can receive treatment and be well-served," he said.

Asep also hopes that President University Hospital will continue to develop, including upgrading its hospital classification in accordance with applicable regulations. This will provide the hospital with the opportunity to support a referral system for patients requiring more complex medical services.

According to Asep, strengthening health facilities in the regions is an important step to ensure that the public receives quality services without having to rely on hospitals abroad.

"We hope this hospital will continue to develop, its facilities will become more complete, and it can provide the best service for the people of Bekasi Regency," he concluded.

Jababeka founder, SD. Darmono, emphasized the importance of disease prevention efforts through routine health checkups and public education. He believes that maintaining good health from an early age is a crucial step in reducing the risk of disease and lowering healthcare costs.

He believes that hospitals should not only function as places for treatment, but should also be centers for health education and medical research.

"Actually, what we need to think about is how to prevent healthy people from becoming sick. Therefore, the public needs to undergo regular health checkups and adopt a healthy lifestyle," he said.

Darmono believes that preventive measures are becoming increasingly important because the cost of treating the disease can become a significant burden if people are late in seeking medical treatment.

"This hospital must also educate the public on how to maintain their health. Prevention is far more important than ever to prevent illness," he said.

He further stated that President University Hospital is capable of developing international collaborations and improving the competence of medical personnel so they can serve both local communities and foreign nationals in the Bekasi Regency industrial area.

He believes that with the support of technology, research, and the communication skills of medical personnel, Bekasi has the potential to become a destination for international-standard healthcare services. (Bekasi Regency Communications and Information Service/rka)
