PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is encouraging the opening of the KM 149 and KM 151 toll exits as a solution to the traffic jams that occur in the Gedebage area. Currently there are several busy central areas that will be filled with residents, such as the Al Jabbar Grand Mosque, GBLA Stsadion, Tegaluar High Speed Train Station and Summarecon Mall.

Regional Secretary for the City of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, said that Exit Toll 149 could be a solution to overcome the problem of traffic jams in the Gedebage area. He also encouraged the construction of KM 149 to be completed up to Jalan Soekarno Hatta.

"The letter is currently being processed. We want to push for KM 149 to be completed to Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Now it only reaches Summarecon. This means it is not finished, this is what we are pushing for," said Ema, Wednesday (31/1/ 2024).

Apart from the KM 149 Toll Exit, he also pushed for the acceleration of the construction of the KM 151 Toll Exit. He said that in the future the toll road construction will split the land and the road construction will also be on roads belonging to the Bandung City Government.

"Currently, the process of opening KM 151 is also being accelerated. The authority is in the central government. We are supportive. If later the city government has to make a grant, I don't think there will be a problem. Because G to G (Government to Government), that's possible, for the grant process, " he said.

Apart from that, Ema said that currently Summarecon is preparing a road access called Sector 5. However, the access crosses the river. For this reason, he also encouraged BBWS to immediately issue recommendations so that permits can be issued immediately.

"It would be good if it was opened for later access to Al Jabbar, you could also circle around to go to the mall. Or later you could go straight to GBLA. There will be a balley bridge there," he said.

According to him, this effort will certainly take a long time. Nearby, he said, traffic engineering must remain optimized. Then, the arrangement of traffic lights and the placement of more officers must be increased.

"Because things that require time cannot possibly be implemented now," he said.

Head of the Control and Operations Division of the Bandung City Transportation Agency, Asep Kuswara, said that his party had alerted 30 officers at 5 locations in the Gedebage area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to regulate traffic.

"We have assigned officers to regulate traffic at 5 locations, namely access 5, Merapi post after the bridge, the main Gedebage which enters Sumarecon, the main entrance to Richeese, and Simpang Derwati," he said.

The officers are prepared to regulate traffic from Friday to Sunday from 11.00 to 23.00 WIB.

He hopes that the presence of these officers will help smooth traffic flow. Moreover, this weekend there are several activities that attract crowds, starting from Sumarecon Mall to the Persib match at GBLA Stadium.

"We continue to maximize the deployment of officers, apart from coordinating with the police to carry out traffic engineering," he said. (rdp*)
