PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government started the New Student Admission System from 4/5/2026 to 13/7/2026 with a two-shift school policy to improve the quality of learning and reduce student density.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that shift restrictions were being implemented at elementary and junior high school levels to ensure a more effective learning process.

"Our SPMB will begin on May 4 and conclude on July 13. There will be several changes, one of which is that elementary and junior high schools will only be allowed a maximum of two shifts," said Farhan on April 30, 2026.

This system divides study time into morning and afternoon so that student distribution is more even and classroom space is used optimally.

"So there are only two shifts, morning and afternoon," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government has prepared a selection system with strict requirements to maintain the quality of new student admissions.

"The requirements are very strict, not all institutions can meet them," said Farhan.

A total of 85 institutions have been invited to participate in the scheme, but only a few have expressed readiness.

"Around four institutions have signaled interest. But we're still pushing for this," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government has proposed extending the registration period by approximately one month after 6/5/2026 so that the selection process can run optimally.

"We have requested a deadline extension of about one month after May 6," said Farhan.

This policy has a direct impact on the community by providing a more orderly, transparent, and fair recruitment system.

The Bandung City Government ensures that implementation continues according to plan through cross-agency coordination and anticipatory measures in the field.
