PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja emphasized the Bekasi Regency Government's commitment to providing modern public spaces and representative sports facilities for the community through the construction of the Integrated Sports Plus SOR (Sports Facilities) Field in Sukatani District, which has now become a new icon of the Bekasi Regency area.

Located right in front of the Sukatani District Office, the Sport Plus area is present as a new "oasis" for the people of North Bekasi Regency who have so far lacked green open spaces and representative sports facilities.

According to Asep Surya Atmaja, the construction of modern sports facilities is not just a physical development, but rather part of a long-term investment to shape a healthy, disciplined, and high-achieving young generation.

He believes that sports arenas have an important role as a space for character development as well as a place for the birth of potential athletes in Bekasi Regency.

"Sports is an investment for the future. It's from arenas like these that we'll produce great generations who will be able to bring honor to Bekasi Regency at the provincial, national, and even international levels," he said.

Asep also assessed that the presence of Sport Plus Sukatani is a symbol of change and progress in the North Bekasi area, which is now starting to have modern and suitable public facilities for the community.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bekasi Regency Culture, Youth and Sports Agency, Iman Nugraha, said that the development of Sport Plus is part of the regional government's grand vision of creating a healthy interaction space for the community.

According to him, Bekasi Regency should not only be known as an industrial area, but should also develop as a sports-friendly area and have quality public spaces.

"A sports city must have healthy public spaces, and Sport Plus Sukatani is one example," he said.

He added that the local government is currently pushing for equitable development of similar sports facilities across various regions. In addition to Sukatani, Sport Plus has also been established in Tarumajaya and Cibarusah.

In the future, the Bekasi Regency Government is targeting all sub-districts to have representative sports centers that can be utilized by the community as a means of activity, recreation, and development of young athletes.

The presence of Sport Plus Sukatani is expected to not only become a sports center, but also a space for community togetherness and a symbol of the growth of a new spirit in North Bekasi towards a healthier, more active, and more modern area.

Previously, the location was used for the opening of the 13th Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) in Bekasi Regency on Monday (May 25, 2026). (Diskominfo Kab. Bekasi/rkai)
