PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono officially launched the Cheap Food Movement On The Road (GPM On The Road) program to reach areas far from food infrastructure such as markets and supermarkets.

"Today we are launching a cheap food movement in the city of Bandung 'on the road' to reach areas that are difficult to find far from traditional markets and markets in the city of Bandung," said Bambang at the launch of GPM On The Road at City Hall Bandung, Tuesday (6/2/2024).

Bambang said that the presence of GPM On The Road is also an effort to reach areas that are potentially food insecure.

"There are several food insecure areas, including in the Bandung Kulon and Babakan Ciparay areas, but we are optimistic that we can control and resolve a number of potential food insecure areas," he said.

He said that the implementation of GPM On The Road would be carried out at 32 points in all sub-districts in Bandung City and would provide more than nine food commodities ranging from rice, sugar, oil, onions, chilies and others.

This is an effort by the City Government to stabilize the prices of a number of foodstuffs and as an effort to control inflation.

"We are releasing all 9 types of commodities. This is one of our efforts to ensure the 9 basic commodities are in stable condition. Apart from GPM, we are also doing it on the road, this is the first time. Accumulatively a year there are 32 points. Of course we carry out periodic evaluations during "weekly. We sample the prices of basic commodities in 8 markets," he said.

In its implementation, the Bandung City Government is also supported by various agencies starting from the National Food Agency (Bapanas), West Java Provincial Government, Bulog, Bank Indonesia, Kodim 0618/Bandung City and Yon Zipur.

Head of the Bandung City Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP), Gin Gin Ginanjar, said that GPM is an effort to maintain food price stability.

Earlier this year, the Bandung City Government started GPM with the latest innovation, namely GPM On The Road, by visiting the community directly. This is done to make it easier for people to access basic necessities and cheap food.

"At the beginning of 2024, we will take the initiative to carry out GMP with an on-the-road approach by using cars to reach areas that are far from food infrastructure. This is to get closer to the community," he said.

This time, GPM On The Road will be held at Kodim 0618/Bandung City Yard on Tuesday 6 February 2024 starting at 09.00 WIB. Various basic commodities and food are sold at cheap prices and below market prices, including:

1. SPHP Rice: Rp. 53,000
2. Whole Chicken: Rp. 29,000
3. 1 Liter Cooking Oil: Rp. 14,000
4. 1 kg purebred chicken eggs: Rp. 25,000
5. Garlic: Rp. 34,000
6. Shallots: Rp. 20,000
7. Cayenne Pepper: Rp. 40,000
8. Granulated Sugar: Rp. 15,500
9. Curly Chili: Rp. 60,000
10. Vegetables: Rp. 5,000

"Hopefully this can run smoothly and inflation in the city of Bandung can be controlled," he said.

Apart from providing cheap food, GPM On The Road also provides free rabies checks and food inspections in food security lab cars for the community.

Apart from that, DKPP also distributed plant seeds, chicken seeds and tilapia fish ready for free consumption. DKPP distributed 250 plant seeds, 500 chicken seeds and 250 tilapia fish ready for consumption. (Diskominfo Bandung City/UPI)
