This event took place at the Pendopo Building, Garut City District, Garut Regency, and was part of the celebration of the 17th Anniversary of Karsa Husada Garut Health College.
Head of Public Health Division of Garut District Health Office (Dinkes), dr. Tri Cahyo Nugroho also attended and appreciated the implementation of this event. In his speech, dr. Tri said that the local government is committed to preparing the younger generation to be able to become a superior generation in 2045. He highlighted the importance of handling nutritional problems, especially related to stunting and wasting.
"In addition to the problem of stunting, wasting or malnutrition is also a serious concern. If not handled immediately, wasting can develop into stunting. Therefore, the current issue of the Ministry of Health is not only focused on stunting but also on wasting," said Dr. Tri.
Furthermore, Dr. Tri revealed that the local government has implemented a Local Supplemental Food (PMT) program for toddlers suffering from wasting in Garut Regency as a preventive measure and early treatment.
Meanwhile, the Head of STIKes Karsa Husada Garut Engkus Kusnadi explained that this seminar is a series of the 17th Dies Natalis celebration. Engkus emphasized the importance of the nutrition theme carried in this seminar, especially to increase awareness of health students on the role of nutrition in human growth and development, especially newborns.
"Remembering that 17 years is actually an age that we all need to remember, that we are entering adulthood, teenagers entering adulthood, so we will remember this," said Engkus.
According to him, nutrition not only affects intelligence, but also physical growth. Therefore, the government currently has a program to achieve zero new stunting. Therefore, this seminar is also related to efforts to handle stunting which is currently a priority.
Engkus also added that STIKes Karsa Husada Garut plans to open a nutrition study program in the near future, considering the increasing need for nutrition experts. He hopes that the establishment of this nutrition study program can help the government in dealing with nutrition problems in Indonesia and produce reliable nutritionists.
"Okay, therefore, on this occasion we also ask for prayers from all, hopefully the establishment of this nutrition study program, of course, which today has entered the finalization," he concluded. (Garut Communication and Information Service/Revo)
