PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan encouraged all civil servants (ASN) of the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) to actively donate blood during Ramadan. The invitation was delivered during the Start of Work Roll Call at Bandung City Hall Plaza on Monday (March 16, 2026).

Farhan said the need for blood in Bandung remains high even during the fasting month. However, blood stocks at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Bandung City typically decrease during Ramadan.

"I urge all healthy people to donate their blood to the Indonesian Red Cross," he said.

He explained that the Bandung City Indonesian Red Cross' blood supply often drops drastically during Ramadan, despite the high demand for blood for hospital patients.

"Throughout Ramadan, the blood supply at the Bandung City Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has decreased drastically. We need it," he said.

Farhan admitted that he had already donated blood a few days earlier. He hoped other employees would follow suit.

"I started last Wednesday. I'm sure you can too," he said.

According to Farhan, donating blood is not harmful as long as it's done by a healthy person. The blood donation procedure is also quite simple and safe.

"The conditions are not difficult and will not make you sick as long as you do not have a dangerous disease," he said.

He hopes more civil servants will donate blood during Ramadan. This participation will help meet the community's blood needs. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
