PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government held a Public Consultation Forum in order to prepare the Initial Draft of the 2025-2030 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) (19/3/2025).

This activity, which was attended by various stakeholders, became a forum to formulate a vision for the development of the City of Bandung for the next five years in a participatory manner.

On that occasion, the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, emphasized that the challenges faced by the City of Bandung cannot be solved by the government alone.

With only around 15,000 employees to serve a population of 2.6 million, active community participation is key to city development.

"We have to involve 100 percent of Bandung residents, not just those who elected us. We have to work together to build a smarter, more inclusive and empowered city," said Farhan.

In this forum, the Bandung City Government highlighted various challenges still faced by the city, such as waste problems, traffic jams, flooding, bureaucratic reform, health services, security, and social and economic inequality.

To overcome this, the main strategy that will be taken is to encourage economic growth of up to 6-6.5 percent per year, reduce unemployment rates, and improve citizen welfare with a fairer redistribution of income.

Meanwhile, Acting Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Iskandar Zulkarnain explained that the preparation of the 2025-2030 RPJMD was carried out through systematic stages and based on public consultation.

According to him, this forum is a form of transparency and accountability in regional development planning.

"We hope that all stakeholders will actively participate, so that the RPJMD that is prepared truly reflects the needs of the Bandung community," said Zul.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Asep Mulyadi, also emphasized the importance of the RPJMD's support for the community, especially in poverty alleviation and improving the quality of housing.

He also highlighted the need to strengthen the creative economy, advance culture, and utilize information technology in public services.

"Development must be oriented towards the welfare of the community and cover all aspects of life. We must ensure that every policy taken truly has a positive impact on the citizens of Bandung City," said Asep.

This forum was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, and various parties, including academics, the business world, communities, and the mass media.

The results of the discussion will be formulated in a memorandum of understanding as a basis for improving the Initial Draft of the RPJMD before it is determined as an official document for the development planning of the City of Bandung.

Through synergy between the government and the community, it is hoped that Bandung can grow into a city that is more superior, open, trustworthy, advanced and religious.
