PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has again taken action against illegal buildings (bangli) in the Cicendo District. Eighteen buildings were targeted in the operation, involving the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), relevant regional officials, and the West Java Provincial Government.

Head of Public Order Section of Bandung City Satpol PP, Sukma Kencana said, of the total of 18 illegal buildings, 8 buildings had been demolished independently by their owners after previously receiving warnings and reprimands from the regional authorities.

Meanwhile, officers carried out the clean-up of 10 other buildings while continuing with the process of cleaning up the remaining demolition materials.

"There are around 18 buildings in Bangli. Yesterday, the owners of around eight Bangli demolished them themselves. So, today we're clearing out 10 Bangli and cleaning them," said Sukma on Jalan Dakota, Bandung, Tuesday (September 15, 2026).

According to him, the regional authorities had prepared the enforcement action in advance. Public awareness campaigns and letters of warning and reprimand had been sent to building owners to ensure the enforcement process proceeded smoothly.

In its implementation, the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) did not work alone. Several regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) were also deployed to support the enforcement and cleanup process.

"This is a collaboration. Today, we're bringing together representatives from the provincial Highways Agency (Bina Marga), the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Bandung City Department of Public Works and Transportation (DSDABM), the Environment Agency (DLH), and regional authorities," he said.

The Bandung City Water Resources and Highways Agency (DSDABM) deployed heavy equipment and handled the disposal of demolition materials. Meanwhile, the Environmental Agency (DLH) was tasked with handling the waste left behind after the cleanup process.

Sukma also revealed that the eradication of illegal buildings will continue in stages. This step is part of the Bandung City Government's commitment, along with the West Java Provincial Government, to restore the function of water channels and organize public spaces.

"The Bandung City and provincial governments are committed to restoring the function of water channels. So, there will be no permanent street vendors, and we will gradually and gradually regulate everything," he said.
