PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Gedebage Waste Disposal Site (TPS) is targeted to be operational in early December 2023. Currently, operational preparations for TPS Gedebage are entering the final stage.

Bandung City Regional Secretary, Ema Sumarna, explained that Gedebage TPS operations continue to be accelerated. The target is that the Gedebage TPS can handle more than 60 tons of waste.

"The target for the Gedebage TPST is that on December 4 it must be operational for organic handling, with 6 gibrik machines and 175 biopons have been built. "The target of 60 tons can be completed," he said, Thursday (30/11/2023).

At the Gedebage TPS, organic waste will then be processed using the maggotization method, while inorganic waste will be taken to Lawe to be processed into RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel).

Regarding alternative final disposal sites (TPA), Ema said that currently she is still waiting for permits and policies from the local government.

"Cijeruk and Cibereum don't exist yet, while at Pasir Bajing we are waiting for the policy (from the local government). We are ready with various compensations, for example tipping fees or KDN (negative impact areas) that have calculations. We are waiting for an explanation," he said.

Head of the Environmental Service, Dudy Prayudi, said that currently the progress of the Gedebage TPS is just building a hangar.

"The casting has been completed, the biopon has been completed, all that remains is to build the hangar. "We want it before this emergency period is over," he said.

Apart from that, Dudy said that of the 135 TPS in Bandung City, there were still 2 TPS that were overloaded, namely Gedebage and Holis TPS. For this reason, the two TPS will be a priority for immediate transportation. Apart from that, Jalan 55 which is still filled with rubbish is also a priority.

Dudy said, DLH continues to encourage people to settle in households or areas that only waste remains are thrown to the TPS. In this way, he hopes that the waste emergency will end soon.

“We focus on processing organic waste. "At the household scale with Kang Empos, also at the sub-district scale with maggotization, increased at the TPS level and then at Gedebage for organic and inorganic processing," he said. (rdp*)
