PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Migimo founder Tata Sugiarta received a field trip from Ikopin University's Master of Management students in the Entrepreneurship course at the West Java Province Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Education and Training Unit (UPTD) on Friday (July 17, 2026). This activity was part of the field learning program on entrepreneurial practices, digital innovation, and cooperative-based startup development.

The field study was led by Dr. Ir. Indra Fahmi, M.Sc., Supervisor of the Ikopin University Business and Entrepreneurship Incubator Center, along with seven Ikopin University MM students. Tata Sugiarta, accompanied by Teguh Ari Prianto (CFO) and Dadan Syarifudin (CAO), engaged in direct dialogue with the students about the process of building a startup and the strategy for a business model oriented towards empowering PMI.

Tata Sugiarta explained that Migimo was born from his experience as an Indonesian Migrant Worker in Japan in 2014-2017, where he saw various challenges faced by PMI, ranging from inefficient remittance services to limited access to building productive businesses in Indonesia.

"My experience as a migrant worker has taught me that technology must be able to provide solutions that provide real benefits to migrant workers.

"Not only does it simplify transactions, but it also opens up opportunities for increased prosperity through business ownership and economic empowerment," said Tata Sugiarta.

In his presentation, Tata Sugiarta explained Migimo's two main innovations: Economic Sharing Remittance (ESR), a remittance system that returns a portion of the economic benefits to members, and Remote Business Ownership (RBO), which enables migrant workers to have productive businesses in Indonesia while still working abroad.

The discussion was interactive, with students fielding various questions about business idea validation, digital product development, and the challenges of cooperative-based innovation. Dr. Ir. Indra Fahmi, M.Sc., appreciated Migimo's openness in sharing his experiences, which he said provided students with a comprehensive perspective on the process of building a business that impacts society.

Carrying the vision of "Connecting Dreams", Migimo continues to develop innovations to connect Indonesian Migrant Workers in 86 countries of placement through digital services that encourage fairer and more sustainable economic benefits for millions of Indonesian Foreign Exchange Heroes.
