PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan confirmed that he will continue to communicate with those affected by the Cicaheum Terminal renovation, particularly with vendors and public transportation operators who operate in the Cicaheum Terminal area.

This step was taken to ensure that all parties understand the direction of the policy to be implemented and also provide space to express their aspirations.

"We continue to engage in dialogue with vendors and public transportation operators in Cicaheum. Certainly, adjustments are needed, and those adjustments are being made to ensure that the scenarios outlined within the BRT framework are supported by all parties," he said on Monday (June 1, 2026).

Farhan assessed that the dialogue process was an important key in implementing the program.

The government wants to ensure that the changes made do not cause social or economic upheaval for the community whose business activities have depended on the terminal area.

According to him, the entire process was carried out in stages, prioritizing deliberation and open communication.

"This is a matter of dialogue. How can we engage in dialogue and find common ground so that all parties can understand the broader goals of developing this transportation system," he said.

Regarding the future of city transportation (angkot), Farhan explained that in the BRT concept currently being prepared, the function of angkot will undergo adjustments.

However, public transportation will not be eliminated, but will become an important part of the integrated transportation system as a feeder mode.

"Angkot (public transportation) won't be moved. In the BRT concept, angkot will function as feeder buses, continuously circulating, connecting residential areas with the main mass transportation corridors," he explained.

With this scheme, public transportation is expected to continue to play a strategic role in supporting public mobility while also becoming part of a more organized and efficient public transportation system.

Farhan added that the Bandung City Government continues to coordinate with other regional heads in the Greater Bandung area and relevant transportation agencies to ensure the BRT implementation process runs according to plan.

"As the regional head, I continue to communicate with all regional heads involved. The Transportation Agency is also in close communication with affected groups, especially public transportation operators," he said.

Apart from transportation operators, the government is also paying attention to the fate of traders affected by the development of the Cicaheum Terminal area.

According to Farhan, the government has prepared a compensation scheme as part of efforts to mitigate the social and economic impacts that may arise during the development process.

However, regarding the amount and mechanism of compensation, Farhan said that this is still the technical authority of the Transportation Agency and related agencies, which are currently conducting further discussions.

"A compensation scheme is being prepared. The details of the value and mechanism will of course be explained by the relevant agency directly handling the matter," he said.

Farhan hopes that the entire process of arranging the Cicaheum Terminal will run smoothly and receive support from all parties.

He assessed that the development of an integrated public transportation system is an urgent need for Greater Bandung to overcome congestion, increase travel efficiency, and strengthen inter-regional connectivity.

"The ultimate goal is to provide a better, more comfortable, and more integrated transportation system for the public. Therefore, we hope all parties can work together to support this process," he concluded. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
