PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Operations 2 Bandung conducted socialization and patrols in areas prone to violations to increase public awareness of the dangers on the railroad tracks. This activity involved various parties, local areas, related regional governments, and railroad enthusiast communities, in order to reduce the number of accidents due to public negligence.

Deputy Daop 2 Bandung, Rangga Putra Maulana emphasized that the railway line is a dangerous area that should not be used for any activities other than railway operations.

"Trains move at high speed and cannot stop suddenly. People on the tracks are at high risk of being hit, and the consequences can be fatal," Rangg said, Monday (10/2/2025).

"The public should not carry out activities on the railroad tracks because it is very dangerous and can be life-threatening. Activities such as walking, sitting, or playing around the tracks are actions that violate the rules and can cause fatal accidents," he added.

Based on Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways, the rail track is a railway benefit space that is only intended for train travel. Violations of this provision may be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations.

Based on data from the Daop 2 Bandung area, in 2025 (January 1 - February 9, 2025), vehicles hitting trains at level crossings (either guarded or unguarded) occurred 3 times and people hitting trains on the railroad tracks occurred 5 times.

In 2024, vehicles crashed into trains at level crossings (either guarded or unguarded) occurred 18 times and people crashed into trains on the tracks 50 times.

Rangga added that KAI Daop 2 also continues to conduct socialization and patrols in areas prone to violations to increase public awareness of the dangers on the railroad tracks. This effort involves various parties, local areas, related regional governments, and railway enthusiast communities, in order to reduce the number of accidents due to public negligence.

KAI Daop 2 invites the public to always use official routes when crossing the tracks and not to engage in activities that could potentially endanger themselves or others. Awareness and compliance with safety rules can prevent accidents and save lives.

"We urge the public to always be careful and obey railway safety rules. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we hope that all parties can contribute to creating a safe environment around the railway line," Rangga concluded. (no)
