PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Trade and Industry Agency (Disdagin) will hold the Main Cheap Bazaar (Bazmut) in all sub-districts as a concrete step by the Bandung City Government to suppress the surge in prices of basic necessities ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the bazaar would be held in two phases, before Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr, to maintain price stability and ensure the availability of basic necessities for the community.
"We are dividing this cheap bazaar into two sessions. The first session will be held on 9-13 February 2026 before fasting, and the second session will be on 2-6 March 2026 before Eid," said Farhan, Sunday (1/2/2026).
Through Bazmut, people can purchase various basic necessities at more affordable prices than market prices. Commodities provided include SPHP rice, cooking oil, granulated sugar, and even meat.
These affordable prices are possible because the Bandung City Trade and Industry Office collaborates with Bulog, Pertamina, and modern retail chains as food supply partners.
"At each location, there will be around 10 stalls selling basic necessities. We ensure a safe supply and affordable prices," he added.
In addition to providing affordable basic necessities, Bazmut also provides various public services and business assistance. The public and MSMEs can access services such as obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB), the National Industrial Information System (SIINas), halal certification, Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI), and licensing services from the DPMPTSP. Products from MSMEs fostered by the sub-districts are also marketed during this activity.
The Mayor of Bandung hopes that the affordable bazaar will help people meet their basic needs amidst rising demand ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, while also boosting the local economy.
"We want to help the community, keep MSMEs moving, and keep regional inflation under control," he said.
