PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, instructed the regional government to handle specifically residents who are indicated to be experiencing mental disorders in Babakan Asih Village, Bojongloa Kaler District.

He conveyed this after visiting and directly reviewing the environmental conditions and public services at the Disaster Alert Siskamling in Babakan Asih sub-district, Wednesday (1/10/2025).

"Overall, I see things at Babakan Asih are doing well. However, we've found several cases that indicate mental health issues," said Farhan.

From the inspection, Farhan found one productive-age resident and two elderly residents exhibiting signs of mental health issues. He assessed that these conditions required immediate follow-up to prevent further impact on the community.

"This requires both legal and counseling interventions. We must ensure that residents experiencing these disorders receive serious attention," he said.

However, Farhan appreciated the performance of the Babakan Asih regional apparatus, which he considered had brought many positive changes.

"The sub-district head and village head have made excellent repairs. I appreciate their efforts to maintain and improve the environmental conditions," he said.

Farhan encouraged the involvement of all parties, including RT/RW, Posyandu cadres, and medical personnel to follow up on cases of mental disorders.

"This problem cannot be handled by one party alone; collaboration is needed so that affected residents can recover and live decent lives," he said.

He hopes that quick and appropriate handling can prevent residents from more serious social and health risks.

"The government is here to ensure that no citizen is neglected, including those facing mental health issues," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
