PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - SMKN 1 Setu, Bekasi Regency, is now occupying a new school building after the previous location was affected by the construction route of the Jakarta–Cikampek II Toll Road on the South Side, Tuesday (1/9/2026).
The activity was combined with the signing of a cooperation agreement between vocational schools and the business and industrial world (Dudika), as well as the handover of equipment assistance.
The transfer was carried out through a mechanism for transferring Regional Property of the West Java Provincial Government (Jabar) by means of exchange.
As a replacement, PT Jasa Marga built a new school building with a value of IDR 22.8 billion, from January 2025 to June 2026.
The Head of the West Java Education Office (Kadisdik), Purwanto, appreciated the presence of the new building.
According to him, better facilities must be followed by good school management, including a clean, green environment that supports student learning.
"The school is already great. It's the principal and the teachers' job to make this area even more perfect," said the Head of Education.
SMKN 1 Setu now stands on land of around 1.2 hectares, after previously only having land of around 4,000 square meters.
The main building provides 27 study rooms, a teacher's room, a library, four student practice rooms (RPS), and a hall.
There is also a supporting building consisting of an administration room, the principal's office, and a prayer room.
In addition to the construction of new buildings through a barter mechanism, SMKN 1 Setu also received a revitalization program from the central government in 2025.
The assistance resulted in four classrooms, three student practice rooms, and six toilet units.
The Head of the Education Office asked schools to continue improving existing facilities, one of which is by increasing green open spaces and organizing school environmental management.
"This school still lacks shade. Plant larger trees so the children can enjoy a shady environment," he said.
According to the Head of Education, the school environment is also part of the process of forming students' character.
Cleanliness and discipline need to be instilled in students from the time they are at school before they enter the world of work.
"Because companies need disciplined and responsible people. Where does that discipline come from? School," he said.
Meanwhile, the Principal of SMKN 1 Setu Kamaludin said the move was an important momentum for the school's development.
He hopes that the new facilities will make SMKN 1 Setu even better known and open up more opportunities for collaboration with various parties.
"Hopefully, after this, many people will take notice and will collaborate with SMKN 1 Setu in the future," he hoped.
The inauguration was also attended by the Head of Vocational High School Development Division of the West Java Education Office, Edy Purwanto.
