Jakarta, April 14, 2026 - Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that efforts to protect children in the digital space are starting to show real results.

As of April 10, 2026, the TikTok platform has disabled approximately 780 thousand accounts belonging to users under the age of 16 in Indonesia.

This step is part of the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS).

"We note that TikTok is the first platform to report that as of April 10, 2026, it has deactivated 780 thousand accounts of children under 16 years old in Indonesia," said Meutya in a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Information's office in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (April 14, 2026).

Meutya expressed her appreciation to the TikTok platform for joining the joint movement to protect children, particularly in Indonesia.

"TikTok has submitted a letter of commitment to compliance with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, published the minimum age limit of 16 years through the Help Center, and committed to providing regular updates on its implementation," he explained.

Meutya emphasized that this was a very positive first step and a victory for the public, especially parents and children in Indonesia.

"We also hope that other platforms will soon report the number of accounts that have been handled or taken down," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the Roblox platform, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Development noted developments at the global level.

Roblox has reportedly made adjustments to settings and rolled out new features globally from its US headquarters as part of its child protection efforts.

However, the government considers that this step does not fully comply with the provisions of the PP TUNAS in Indonesia.

"There are still loopholes that allow communication or chat with unknown people," he explained.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs emphasized that Roblox cannot currently be categorized as a platform that complies with the TUNAS PP.

"With a heavy heart, despite having made quite a few adjustments, we have not yet been able to accept Roblox's proposal to declare the Roblox platform in compliance with the TUNAS Regulation," he concluded.

Meutya emphasized that compliance with PP TUNAS is not an option, but rather an obligation that must be carried out by every electronic system organizer.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital will continue to conduct regular monitoring and evaluation and will take firm action against platforms that fail to comply with applicable regulations. (Komdigi)
