PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to innovate in providing fast, responsive, and safe public services for its citizens. Through the Bandung City Communications and Informatics Agency (Diskominfo), in collaboration with PT Bali Towerindo, Panic Buttons are being introduced in two public spaces: Supratman Park and Palestine Walk (Bandung Town Square).

This facility is part of the Bandung Siaga 112 system which is ready to receive emergency reports from the public.

By pressing the emergency button at the location, residents can immediately connect two-way with Bandung Siaga 112 officers to report urgent conditions.

According to the Head of the Bandung City Communications and Information Service, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, the Panic Button technology is designed for fast response and interactive communication between the public and officers.

"This panic button is useful in the event of an emergency in the area. Once the button is pressed, the system immediately connects to Bandung Siaga 112, enabling two-way communication and monitoring via CCTV," he explained.

However, Yayan explained that emergency situations allow residents to use the Panic Button in situations that could threaten their lives. These include accidents, strokes, heart attacks, or serious crimes.

As long as it is not an urgent situation, said Yayan, residents can ask for help from officers around the Panic Button location.

"These two locations were chosen because they are public spaces with high levels of mobility, making them vulnerable to potential security and safety disturbances," he said.

Meanwhile, Krisna from the Bali Tower IT team added that this facility makes it easier for residents to report directly at the scene of the incident.

"If residents witness an accident, disturbance, or disturbance of public order, simply press the button. Officers can immediately interact and take action quickly, as Bandung Siaga 112 connects directly to the field team," he said.

From a technical perspective, the Panic Button device is equipped with a PTZ type CCTV, a type of surveillance camera that can be mechanically operated remotely.

This camera can rotate horizontally (pan), move up and down vertically (tilt), and enlarge or reduce objects (zoom) and CCTV fix (one direction) to monitor the surrounding area comprehensively.

Apart from that, there are two types of speakers, one for two-way communication and another for delivering announcements.

Krisna emphasized that this device has also been designed to be anti-vandalism and anti-damage, and is also monitored regularly through an integrated CCTV system.

"We ensure this equipment is minimally damaged. Even if there is any vandalism, we can immediately identify the perpetrators through CCTV footage," he added.

Through the presence of this Panic Button, the Bandung City Government hopes that the public will feel safer and more protected when carrying out activities in public spaces.

This innovation is a concrete step toward a smart, responsive city that prioritizes citizen safety. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
