PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin inspected the rehabilitation of the 1.3 kilometer Limbangan–Selaawi Road to facilitate residents' mobility, (5/8/2026).
The 4-meter-wide road section was repaired using a hotmix pavement layer with a budget of IDR 1.3 billion from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
Abdusy Syakur Amin said that road repairs are important to facilitate access for Garut residents to Sumedang and vice versa.
"So, this road was reportedly last repaired in 2015, which is 11 years ago. Hopefully, this repair will improve access for Garut residents to other places, as well as for Sumedang residents who want to go to Garut. However, due to limited capacity, it's only been implemented in stages. Hopefully, it will go smoothly," said Syakur.
The rehabilitation of this road section is expected to facilitate public movement and support economic activity in the border areas of Garut and Sumedang.
Secretary of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department of Garut Regency, Yugo Wibisono, explained that the work began with manually opening the drainage channels.
"We are in the first stage of opening drainage channels, still using manual, then the pavement uses hot mix with a width of 4 meters, now it's only been 30 days, later the implementation period will be 120 days," he said.
Yugo stated that the Garut Regency PUPR Service is supervising the work to ensure completion is on schedule and meets technical specifications.
"We hope to ensure the project is completed on time and meets quality standards, ensuring it meets specifications and allows the public to benefit immediately," Yugo concluded.
