PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja is preparing to normalize irrigation channels and repair farm roads in Kalibutek and Pulo Glatik Village, Tuesday (13/10/2026).
This step follows up on complaints from residents of Sukaindah Village, Sukakarya District, and the border area of Sindangsari Village, Cabangbungin District, regarding road damage and narrowing of water channels.
During the inspection, Asep was accompanied by the Acting Head of Sukakarya District, Bahrul Ulum, and community leader Ki Jaga Kali, to identify infrastructure issues that hamper agricultural activities.
Asep asked the relevant companies to take responsibility for repairing roads damaged by construction activities through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
"The company must be responsible for any roads damaged by development. We will encourage them to be repaired through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to avoid burdening the regional budget and the community," said Asep.
In addition to road repairs, normalizing irrigation channels is a priority to restore smooth irrigation of rice fields and support community agricultural productivity.
The local government will also review the handling of buildings around the canal boundaries that are suspected of narrowing the water flow so that irrigation functions can be restored to optimal condition.
Asep emphasized that the building arrangement would take into account the results of technical studies, normalization needs, and the social conditions of the community without ignoring humanitarian aspects.
The implementation of the arrangement will be coordinated with the Water Resources, Highways, and Construction Services Agency (DSDABMBK), the sub-district government, and the relevant village government.
In addition to improving infrastructure, Asep emphasized the importance of mentoring farmers so they can apply cultivation techniques that are appropriate to land conditions.
Community leader Ki Jaga Kali appreciated the direct inspection and hoped the government would immediately implement concrete steps to address road and irrigation issues.
"The community is ready to make a positive contribution to supporting regional development, especially to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve farmers' welfare," he said.
Ki Jaga Kali also encouraged the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) to increase farmer education regarding soil acidity levels (potential of hydrogen/pH), nutrient content, and proper cultivation techniques.
Through road repairs, irrigation normalization, and farmer assistance, the Bekasi Regency Government hopes that agricultural activities in Kalibutek and Pulo Glatik will become smoother and that farmer welfare will improve.
