PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. TASIKMALAYA - Acting (Acting) Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin visited the location affected by the landslide disaster in Cikadongdong Village, Neglasari Village, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya Regency, Tuesday (2/7/2024).

Bey arrived at around 16.00 WIB and went straight to the evacuation post. Bey then handed over aid to residents affected by the landslide disaster.

Neglasari Village is one of the areas that was quite badly affected by 72 landslides spread across several sub-districts in Tasikmalaya Regency. The provincial road connecting Garut and Tasikmalaya was blocked by landslide material. Thanks to the joint officers' alertness, this route is now passable by vehicles.

When met after the inspection, Bey said that the BMKG had issued a warning to be wary of high-intensity rain even though he was currently entering a transition period from the rainy season to the dry season.

"This is because the rain is taking a long time. Actually, the BMKG has warned that even though we are currently heading into the dry season, we still have to be careful that there will be high intensity rain," he said.

He also thanked the village heads and sub-district heads who had reminded their residents to be careful during heavy rain, especially in areas with potential landslides.

"Thank you to the sub-district head and village head for reminding residents so that there were no fatalities, but quite a few houses were damaged," said Bey.

While carrying out treatment, said Bey, his party is now waiting for the emergency response status from the Tasikmalaya Regency Regional Government. This will later be related to the assistance that will be provided.

Unexpected Assistance (BTT) for repairs to houses with heavy damage is IDR 60 million, moderately damaged IDR 30 million, and lightly damaged IDR 15 million.

"We are waiting for the emergency response status from the district to see how it will be handled. There is a BTT for house repairs according to the level of damage, if it is heavily damaged IDR 60 million, moderate damage IDR 30 million and light damage IDR 15 million. Funding for emergency response from the District Government first and BNPB is also certain help," said Bey.

According to Bey, a more effective treatment is the relocation of residents. Currently PVMBG (Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation) is conducting an assessment regarding whether relocation is necessary or not.

"If we have to relocate, the sub-district head will look for safe land, the land must also be assessed by PVMBG to ensure that this doesn't happen again," said Bey.

Bey also said that apart from Tasikmalaya Regency, four other districts in West Java have quite high potential for landslides, including Bogor, Sukabumi, West Bandung and Cianjur Regencies.

"It doesn't mean that other regions are not alert, but these are the four areas that need to be the most alert. That's why we ask the public to always be alert," he said.
