PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. BANDUNG - Nine days before the election, interfaith figures in West Java who are members of the West Java Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) declared the election peaceful, safe, serene and harmonious.

The declaration was carried out at the Sultan Raja Hotel, Soreang, Bandung Regency, Monday (5/2/2024).

FKUB Chairman Rafani Achyar said the declaration was made because it was driven by a sense of responsibility of all elements of society, especially interfaith leaders, to realize peaceful, safe, serene and harmonious elections.

Rafani added that all elements of society must work together to make the election a success by exercising their right to vote or not abstaining from voting.

"Can accept the results of elections that have been carried out honestly, fairly and with dignity," he said.

Daily Executive Head of the West Java Province Kesbangpol Agency, Sapta Yulianto Dasuki, who read the Acting Governor's remarks, said that FKUB is a strategic partner in maintaining religious harmony and regional stability in West Java.

FKUB has an important role in maintaining tolerance and has the ability to anticipate and prevent conflict in society.

"West Java has the largest number of voters, so it has the potential for extreme polarization to emerge. The Acting Governor advised FKUB to anticipate and prevent the emergence of extreme polarization in society," said Sapta.

The following is the agreement with interfaith leaders in West Java for peaceful elections:

1. Determined to make the 2024 election a success so that it runs safely, calmly, serenely, peacefully, honestly, fairly and with dignity in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

2. Determined to avoid conflicts, no matter how small, whether conflicts with racial nuances (ethnicity, religion, race), economic, social, cultural or religious as well as conflicts caused by differences in preferences.

3. Try to prevent the politicization of religion, identity politics and money politics, and not make places of worship a campaign event.

4. Invite all people who already have the right to vote to exercise their respective voting rights accompanied by a sense of responsibility as citizens.

5. Invite all components of society to make the election a democratic party that respects differences in choices, while maintaining brotherhood and unity.

6. Invite all components of society to accept the election results which were carried out honestly, fairly and with dignity.
