PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Chairperson of the Bekasi Regency Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Team, Nia Yuniawati Asep Surya Atmaja, supports the launch of the 2026 JKN Pap Smear Celebration as an effort to raise women's awareness of the importance of early detection of cervical cancer.

The national-level launch activity, which was centered at the BPJS Kesehatan Cikarang Branch Office, Jalan Raden Mamun Nawawi, Sukadami, South Cikarang, Thursday (29/10/2026), became a momentum to strengthen collaboration in increasing access to reproductive health checks for women.

Nia stated that cervical cancer remains a serious health threat to women. However, this risk can be reduced through prevention and early detection, allowing for faster treatment and a greater chance of recovery.

"On behalf of the Bekasi Regency PKK TP, I welcome and express my highest appreciation to the Cikarang Branch of BPJS Kesehatan and the Bekasi Regency IBI for organizing this very beneficial collaborative activity," he said.

According to Nia, the launch of the 2026 National Health Insurance (JKN) Pap Smear Celebration demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening promotive and preventive health efforts. This activity is also part of efforts to improve access to healthcare for the people of Bekasi Regency.

"This step is a concrete manifestation of our shared commitment to supporting promotive and preventive efforts, while also welcoming the implementation of Universal Health Coverage, a priority in Bekasi Regency," he said.

Nia explained that the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) has a network of cadres down to the village level, who interact directly with the community. This network is a strategic force for increasing women's understanding of the importance of maintaining reproductive health and conducting regular checkups.

"We realize that the biggest challenge in early detection, such as Pap smears or IVA, is often not the availability of the equipment, but rather awareness, fear, and stigma among women themselves," she said.

Therefore, Nia encouraged all PKK cadres to play an active role in educating the community so that women no longer feel anxious or embarrassed about undergoing examinations. It is hoped that ongoing education will encourage more women to utilize the healthcare services available through the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).

"Through the momentum of the 2026 JKN Pap Smear Celebration, let's work together to transform fear into awareness. The active role of PKK cadres, supported by midwives, is crucial in educating mothers so they don't hesitate to use JKN services for regular reproductive health checkups," she emphasized.

He added that the involvement of PKK cadres, health workers, BPJS Kesehatan, and health care facilities needs to be continuously strengthened so that early detection efforts for cervical cancer reach more women, including those who have not yet been aware of the need for screening.

"Healthy women are the foundation of strong and happy families. Therefore, let's use today's event as a momentum to strengthen cross-sector synergy to realize healthy, productive women in Bekasi Regency who are free from cervical cancer," she said.

Nia emphasized that the Bekasi Regency Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) is ready to continue supporting government health programs through cadre mobilization and community empowerment. She hopes this synergy won't stop with ceremonial activities, but will continue into educational initiatives and regular health checkups.

"The Bekasi Regency Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) is ready and committed to mobilizing the community to ensure the success of the early detection program. Let's work together to create a healthier Bekasi Regency community, more empowered women, and a more prosperous society," he concluded. (Bekasi Regency Communications and Information Office/rka)
