PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to plan a strategy for controlling inflation and containing the challenges of the impact of macroeconomic disruptions in maintaining the stability of food supply in Bandung City, especially ahead of the Simultaneous Regional Elections at the Mercure Lengkong Hotel (20/8/2024).

Acting Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Dharmawan said that the control of inflation in Bandung City to date has been appropriate.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, inflation in Nandung City in July 2024 was 1.91 (year on year), and 0.01 (month to month). While for year to date the figure is 1.09. This achievement is still within the provincial and national target range of 2.5 plus minus one.

The Bandung City Government also received an award at the 2024 Bapanas Award event as the city that won first place in the Cheap Food Movement innovation, namely GPM On the Road and the City with the Best Inflation Control Performance.

However, there are still other factors that need attention, such as fluctuations in food prices, the political situation ahead of the simultaneous regional elections, transportation costs and other commodities, which have a significant impact on inflation in the city of Bandung.

"Concrete steps need to be taken to stabilize prices and ensure access to the availability of basic community needs," he said when opening the FGD.

He asked TPID to implement various policies and program strategies. Among them, strengthening the local agricultural system (buruan sae), developing market infrastructure (modern market renovation), securing social networks, comprehensive public policies, and partnerships with various parties, especially cooperation between regions to be more concrete according to commodities that always contribute to inflation.

In addition, TPID also periodically collects data and evaluates commodity prices and stocks in the Bandung Commodity Dashboard.

"Perform regular updates. Also, coordination and synergy between OPDs need to be continuously improved in realizing programs or activities that have been planned in the inflation control roadmap," he said.

Dharmawan hopes that through discussions and collaborations that are established, effective strategies can be found in facing macroeconomic challenges.

"Hopefully the results of this FGD can be a solid foundation in maintaining the stability of food supply in Bandung City," he said.

"With a shared commitment, we can take on all challenges and ensure that the purchasing power of the people of Bandung City is maintained," he added. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
