PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) will make the Babakan Siliwangi Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) a waste management education tourism center in the City of Bandung.

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, said that the waste problem is a crucial matter facing the City of Bandung. Massive education regarding waste management for the community must continue to be intensified. One of them is educational tourism on waste management.

"Waste management at the Babakan Siliwangi TPST is good. There should be an educational tour for integrated waste management and this is important," he said, Thursday (23/5/2024).

Later, the public will be given education regarding waste management from organic to inorganic and guided by the Bandung City Environmental Service

"We need someone who is able to explain. This waste educational tourism is important because it will provide extraordinary benefits," he said.

Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH), Yudi Prayudi, said that the Babakan Siliwangi TPST currently has integrated and renewable waste processing technology.

Safe waste is processed into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as a substitute for coal. Babakan Siliwangi TPST has been able to produce 10 tons of RDF which is used as fuel for several textile factories around the city of Bandung.

"At this TPST, we not only process domestic waste but also process leaf waste, which will later be processed into RDF," he said.

In the future, Yudi continued, the Babakan Siliwangi TPST will become an education center for the public to see waste processed into renewable energy. From the time the waste comes in until it becomes RDF and is sent to the textile factory.

"Currently we are preparing the infrastructure. Hopefully this waste processing educational tour can soon be opened to the public," he said.
