PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is ready to facilitate joint viewing (nobar) of the World Cup for the public after obtaining permission from TVRI and RRI as the holders of public viewing broadcasting rights, as an effort to strengthen community togetherness (18/6/2026).

Farhan explained that the implementation of the activity is still awaiting official coordination with TVRI and RRI to ensure that all broadcasting rights regulations are complied with.

He emphasized that local governments cannot hold public screenings without obtaining approval from official broadcasting institutions.

"I'm still waiting for coordination with TVRI. If TVRI and RRI have given permission, we're certainly ready to hold a public viewing," Farhan said at Bandung City Hall on June 18, 2026.

According to him, holding joint viewings does not have to be centralized in one large location, but can be held in several public spaces to be closer to the community.

The Bandung City Government is also considering utilizing public spaces at the sub-district level as alternative locations for holding these activities.

Farhan said the implementation would likely be focused on crucial phases of the tournament, such as the quarterfinals and finals, to accommodate public enthusiasm.

He considered this pattern more effective so that the facilities provided could be used optimally by residents.

"We'll probably hold it closer to the quarterfinals or the final. We don't want to prepare a large venue and only end up with few attendees," he said.

Farhan added that the public can still watch the match via free digital television broadcasts at home.

However, he believes that watching a film together has social value because it creates a space for interaction and togetherness among residents in a public space.

This activity will also involve coordination with security forces and regional apparatus to ensure that the implementation takes place in an orderly, safe, and comfortable manner for the community.

Farhan hopes that the public can enjoy the World Cup while maintaining order and using this momentum as a means to strengthen social solidarity.
