PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Regency Minimum Wage (UMK) in 2024 for Garut Regency has increased to IDR 2,186,437, this increase in UMK is stated in the Decree of the Governor of West Java Number: 561.7/Kep.804-Kesra/2023 concerning Regency/City Minimum Wages in the region West Java Province in 2024.

Garut Regency's UMK in 2024 was declared to have increased after the previous year Garut Regency's UMK was at Rp. 2,117,318.31, and this year it was stated that it had increased by Rp. 69,118.69 or 3.26 percent.

There are several things highlighted in the decree, including the fact that the 2024 UMK policy will come into effect on January 1 2024. Apart from that, the UMK only applies to workers with less than one year of service.

Meanwhile, workers with less than one year, but who have certain qualifications required for certain positions, can receive wages in excess of the minimum wage that has been set.

Apart from that, the decree states that employers or companies prepare and enforce a wage structure and scale in determining the amount of wages paid to workers with more than 1 (one) year of service.

On the other hand, employers are prohibited from providing wages lower than the minimum wage, except for micro and small business actors which have been determined based on an agreement between the entrepreneur and employees.

Finally, employers who have paid wages higher than the 2024 UMK provisions are prohibited from reducing or lowering workers' wages in accordance with statutory regulations.
