PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Ahead of Eid al-Adha 2024, the Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP) has monitored food stocks and prices in eight main traditional markets.

Head of the Bandung City Food Security and Livestock Service (DKPP), Gin Gin Ginanjar, said that the prices of several strategic food commodities in Bandung City are experiencing fluctuations.

"The prices of large red chilies and red cayenne peppers have increased significantly due to decreased supply and increased demand ahead of Eid al-Adha. Shallots experienced a decline in prices due to increased supply following farmers' harvest season. "On the other hand, the price of garlic rose due to low realization of imports and rising prices from producing countries," said Gin Gin, Wednesday (13/6/2024).

Gin Gin revealed that demand for purebred chicken meat also increases ahead of Eid al-Adha, which causes prices to increase. Meanwhile, granulated sugar remains high due to rising international prices and the ongoing import process.

"However, prices for fresh beef and bulk cooking oil are stable thanks to smooth supply," he said.

In general, continued Gin Gin, strategic food prices are expected to increase between 3-10 percent ahead of Eid al-Adha, in line with increasing market demand.

"Supply to the city of Bandung is guaranteed to run smoothly, and food availability remains in surplus," he said.

Gin Gin admitted that he would increase the marketing of SPHP rice to facilitate public access to cheap rice.

"We urge the public not to panic buy and shop wisely according to their needs, keeping market demand stable," he said.

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is committed to continuing to monitor and maintain price stability and food availability for the community.

The following is the latest report on food prices collected from the Kosambi, Simple, Kiaracondong, Gedebage, Moh Toha, Astanaanyar, Cicadas and Andir markets.
