PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The number of departures of domestic commercial air transportation passengers in West Java in April 2024 was recorded at 18,083 people.

The amount of cargo via West Java domestic flights including goods, baggage and post/packages in April 2024 reached 426.90 tons or an increase of 2.13 percent compared to March 2024.

There are five airports observed by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which serve flights as a means of air transportation in West Java Province, namely Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung City), West Java International Airport (Majalengka Regency), and Nusawiru Airport (Pangandaran Regency).

Next, Cakrabhuwana Penggung Airport (Cirebon City) and Wiriadinata Airport (Tasikmalaya City). All of these airports serve domestic flights (within the country).

Head of West Java BPS Marsudijono said, in April 2024, the number of domestic flight passengers departing via commercial air transportation from West Java was 18,083 people, an increase of 47.30 percent compared to March 2024, which was recorded at 12,078 people.

Judging by departure airport, the number of domestic flight passengers departing in April 2024 is dominated by BIJB Kertajati with 18,043 people.

This number has increased by 47.45 percent compared to the previous month when it was recorded at 12,050 people.

During January-April 2024, the total served by BIJB Kertajati was 62,805 passengers.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers departing from Husein Sastranegara Airport in April 2024 was 76 people.

Domestic passengers from Nusawiru Airport were recorded at 283 people. There were 16 passengers departing from Cakrabhuwana Penggung Airport and 23 domestic passengers departing from Wiriadinata Airport.

The year-on-year development in the number of domestic air transport passengers has decreased by 47 percent from 35,052 people in April 2023 to 18,083 people in April 2024.

Then in April 2023, the number of domestic air transportation passengers was recorded at only four airports.

Meanwhile, in April 2024, the number of domestic air transportation passengers was recorded at five airports, namely Kertajati, Husein Sastranegara, Nusawiru, Wiriadinata and Cakrabhuwana Penggung Airports.

The increase in the number of passengers at Kertajati Airport will be increasingly visible in the second quarter of 2024 because it is the airport for Hajj departures from the West Java group.

BIJB Kertajati began dispatching prospective 2024 Hajj pilgrims last Sunday (12/5), directly released by the Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin. There are around 13,000 prospective Hajj pilgrims flying from the airport.

The congregation came from the districts/cities of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang, Sumedang and Bandung. They are divided into 30 groups.
