PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Deputy Regent (Wabup) of Bekasi, Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja, inspected the flood location in the Puri Mutiara Indah (PMI) Housing Complex, Karangraharja, Bekasi Regency, Tuesday (4/3/2025).
This review was conducted to ensure rapid handling for residents affected by the high rainfall that hit the area in the last few days.
During the visit, Asep was accompanied by the Head of North Cikarang District, the Bekasi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Babinsa, and local village officials.
Based on monitoring, the water level in the residential area varies between 30 to 60 cm, inundating residents' houses and main road access.
The Bekasi Regency BPBD reported that the evacuation of vulnerable residents had been carried out, and emergency aid had begun to be distributed. Meanwhile, Babinsa together with local security forces also ensured the smooth evacuation process and aid distribution.
Asep instructed BPBD and related agencies to speed up flood management, including water suction and logistics distribution for affected residents. In addition, he asked sub-district heads and village officials to record all victims to ensure their needs are met.
"The local government is committed to handling the impact of this flood and finding long-term solutions, including improving the drainage system so that similar incidents do not happen again," he said.
As a follow-up, BPBD will continue to monitor flood conditions and coordinate with related agencies to accelerate regional normalization.
The Bekasi Regency Government (Pemdakab) will also seek permanent solutions for flood-prone areas.
Asep appealed to the public to remain vigilant and work together in disaster management efforts.
