PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Deputy Regent (Wabup) of Garut, Putri Karlina, invited the public, especially women who feel they have been victims of sexual harassment by a doctor with the initials I, to dare to report it.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Regent after holding a follow-up meeting on the alleged sexual harassment case by a doctor, which was held in the Hall of the Population Control, Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DPPKBPPPA) of Garut Regency, Jalan Terusan Pahlawan, Tarogong Kidul District, Tuesday (22/4/2025).
He said the case is now being handled by the police. The doctor with the initials I has been named a suspect and detained.
Even so, the Deputy Regent emphasized the importance of the courage of the community who feel they are victims to also report so that the legal process runs optimally.
"Currently, there are reports being processed, but it would be good if friends who have had unpleasant experiences related to these individuals also report them. Come to the relevant agency or to a shelter for women and children, so they can voice their experiences," he said.
The Deputy Regent emphasized the local government's commitment to providing protection to victims. The protection includes identity confidentiality, mental assistance, and legal support.
In fact, the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, has directly sent the West Java Special Legal Team to provide free legal assistance and advice to the victims.
"So there is no need to worry about costs, no need to worry about your identity being revealed. Here the facilities are complete—come, complain, and be given psychological and legal protection. If you really want the person to be punished as fairly as possible, come on, dare to report it," he invited.
In the end, the Deputy Regent invited all parties to continue to be enthusiastic about maintaining the safety and protection of women and children, especially in Garut Regency.
Previously, the alleged sexual harassment case by this doctor had gone viral on social media. Thanks to cross-sector cooperation, the suspect has now been detained and is undergoing legal proceedings. (Garut Communications and Information Service/Fau)
