PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Deputy Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan, conveyed his congratulations on the 216th anniversary of Bandung City. He expressed his hope that the city would progress and its people would prosper under the leadership of Mayor Muhammad Farhan and Deputy Mayor Erwin.

Erwan delivered this message after attending the 216th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony of Bandung City at the Bandung City Hall Plaza, Friday (25/9/2026).

"Personally, and on behalf of the West Java Provincial Government, I wish Bandung a happy 216th anniversary. May the people of Bandung prosper, progress, and achieve greater success under the leadership of Kang Farhan and Kang Erwin," Erwan said.

According to Erwan, Bandung holds a strategic position for West Java. As the provincial capital, Bandung's development is not only of concern to the city's residents but also significant for the West Java community as a whole.

"I am confident that Bandung can become a major city that we can all be proud of, and as the provincial capital, Bandung can also make us, the people of West Java, proud," he said.

Entering the age of 216, Erwan stated that the West Java Provincial Government's support for the development of Bandung City will continue through cross-government collaboration.

One sector of particular concern is transportation. Erwan is pushing for the development of a more integrated transportation system capable of providing direct benefits to the community.

"I'm pushing for development in the transportation sector and infrastructure development that will directly impact the community," he said.

He assured that the synergy between the West Java Provincial Government and the Bandung City Government would continue to be strengthened. He believes collaboration is crucial for realizing various development programs needed by the community.

"God willing, our collaboration between West Java Province and the City of Bandung will continue to run smoothly, and we are confident we will soon realize this," said Erwan.

Meanwhile, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that one form of this collaboration is evident in the development of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). This program is part of the government's efforts to address transportation issues in the Bandung Basin area.

"BRT will be a solution from the central and provincial governments for handling transportation in the Bandung Basin, involving Sumedang Regency, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, and Bandung City," said Farhan.

Beyond transportation, Farhan also emphasized Bandung City's commitment to waste management through modern technology. One example is the construction of a Waste-to-Electricity (PSEL) plant in Legok Nangka.

"We are also very committed to modern waste management technology, and we will build this PSEL together in accordance with the commitment we have signed," said Farhan.

According to Farhan, these various development agendas demonstrate the importance of a harmonious relationship between the Bandung City Government and the West Java Provincial Government. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
