PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan provided motivation at the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PK2MB) event at the Graha Suhandani Building of the Indonesian Cooperative University (IKOPIN), Sumedang Regency, Monday (14/9/2026).
In front of hundreds of new Ikopin students, Deputy Governor Erwan emphasized the importance of being at the forefront of providing community service through the knowledge gained during their studies at the Ikopin campus.
"I hope that community service will become a characteristic of IKOPIN students. These students here will be the next generation in improving cooperatives in Indonesia," said Deputy Governor Erwan.
According to Deputy Governor Erwan, stable economic growth is inextricably linked to the role of Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD). Therefore, the foundation for KUD's continued empowerment for the community was born from Ikopin graduates.
"Our economy has survived to this day thanks to cooperatives. Farmers can easily obtain seeds and fertilizer, thanks to the Village Unit Cooperatives," he said.
In his remarks, Erwan also shared tips for students to become skeptical individuals by always asking questions to be used as innovations in the future.
"I urge you to continue learning and hone your knowledge, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Students must also start building their character, becoming honest and disciplined individuals," he said.
He also advised students to contribute to the West Java community. A student's success lies not in earning a bachelor's degree, but in benefiting others through their knowledge.
